Announcing this year’s call for papers and presentations for participation in the 2018 Annual Meeting of the Montana Junior Academy of Science, which occurs alongside that of the Montana Academy of Science. Three engagement options are available to high school students: students may register for the meeting and present their research in a 10-minute oral presentation to other high school students, submit a formal scientific research paper in a paper competition, or students may choose to do both; give a presentation and submit a scientific paper for review. Junior Academy student presentations will take place on Saturday April 7th, on the campus of Montana Tech, UM-Butte.
Students who wish to be scheduled for a 10-minute oral presentation where they discuss their research in the Junior Academy Sectional on Saturday may register online for the meeting by March 29, 2018 for a cost of $10 per student. In addition, the author and title of the presentation must be emailed to me at email@example.com and must meet the presentation guidelines set forth on our website.
Students who would like to enter the paper competition should submit their papers to me electronically no later than March 9, 2018. The paper(s) should be of standard scientific format: Title page, Abstract, Acknowledgments, Table of Contents, Introduction, Methods, Data/Results, Discussion/Interpretation, and References. All students who submit papers and plan to attend the meeting should also register for the meeting, pay the $10 registration fee, and email me the author and title of their presentation so they will be scheduled for a 10-minute oral presentation. Students who submit papers will receive a ranking by reviewers. The top two ranked scientific papers will be specially recognized and scheduled to give longer presentations in the Senior Academy Sectional for the Montana Academy of Science, and will receive a financial award of $500 each toward attending the National Junior Academy of Science meeting the next year to present their research. Send your papers and questions to: firstname.lastname@example.org (no faxes)
